Our Children's Martial Arts program
goes beyond just traditional martial arts training by also incorporating
character development and state of the art teaching methods. Not only do
our children learn self-defense, they also develop very positive feelings
about themselves and others.

Our children program is primarily led
by Mrs. Gordon a fourth degree internationally certified
instructor and Mr Jackson a
second degree instructor. These two instructors have have been
teaching for many years. They've trained, taught, or tested all over
the United States, Canada, and Korea. At Gordon Martial Arts,
currently all of the instructors are in their 30's, 40's, or 50's.
All of us were well established in our careers, lived in the Crestview
area for many years, and had families of our own. Having children of our
own, we can relate to both adult's and children's needs.
In today's world, there are concerns with how our
children are growing up and pressure our children face today. A lot
different than the pressures that we faced when we grew up. Not only
do today's children have to behave and get good grades, there's a constant
peer pressure of drugs, violence, and bullying.
At Gordon Martial Arts, we've gone through the latest training and
continue to train as we realize we must give children a head start in
life. We do this by teaching life skills and social benefits while
the children learn self defense. Through the children training
classes, while they learn to defend themselves, they will also:
The children will enjoy the training
as well as the friendships. A quality martial art program can be
help to assist solid parenting. With the leadership skills being taught,
the children get a head start on life because their parents gave them the
tools to focus, get through tough times, and get ahead. Earning a
black belt isn't like pinning on a merit badge, it's something the child
will be able to reflect back for the rest of their life.

We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same kind of
behavior at home and in school.
Martial Arts are improve children's self esteem by the reward system
For children and teenagers, the belt system is one of the key
ingredients to building self esteem. When they earn their next
belt, not only are they learning self defense, but they are building
self confidence and learning to feel good about themselves.
Martial Arts is a great way
to build self esteem and self control
"...martial arts programs are more effective than other physical
activities at reducing aggression and hostility and increasing
self-esteem, self-control and self-confidence." (Source - Binder, Brad.
"Psychosocial Benefits of Martial Arts: Myth or Reality? A Literature
Review." 1999.)
Martial Arts will give your
child confidence
Nothing can take the place of the security in knowing that your child
can defend themselves should the need ever arise. "People who
continue to practice the martial arts for prolonged periods are
different from the general populace in these ways: they have a lower
level of anxiety; an increased sense of responsibility; they are less
likely to be radical; they have an increased level of self-esteem; and
they are more socially intelligent." (Source - Psychology Today, May
1985.)
Martial Arts can save your
life
The instructors at Gordon Martial Arts has trained for many years to
make sure everything we teach is reality based. We've trained
under some of the best martial artists in the world and stay on the
cutting edge of martial art training.
Martial
Arts are a lot of fun and channel aggression
We learned a long time ago that people learn faster when they are having
fun. At Gordon Martial Arts, we make sure to keep the atmosphere
friendly and family friendly. You'll have a good time meeting new
friends while learning life changing martial arts.
Children’s aggression will be channeled away from bad outlets which is
why many doctors have prescribed martial arts because of the positive
outlet it gives the children.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and
especially Mrs. Gordon (please share this with her) for the
dedicated instruction, leadership and mentoring you have provided my
son, Tyler. I am always truly amazed at how Mrs. Gordon manages to
keep up with all those kids, not only with respect to their
classroom instruction but in the fact that she is aware of each
child on a personal level, and her heart felt devotion to each
individual child's success, not only on the mat but in life. I have
learned over time while watching my son at your school, that he is
not only learning martial arts but values that he will carry with
him throughout life regardless of whether he decides to continue in
martial arts or not. Not many schools offer that type of influence,
and we are truly blessed to have you both in our community. In my
profession of law enforcement I am unfortunately faced with seeing
the other side of life day in and day out and the effect it has on
our children; broken homes, no positive role models, youth with no
ambition in life, merely marking time as the stumble in and out of
trouble on their quest to adulthood. It is a warm feeling to know
that the world does still have those "chosen" few who are given a
gift from God to influence our children in a manner that will ensure
their success in life. Thank you both for your hard work and
dedication.
Respectfully,
Danny Dean "Tyler's Dad" |

Dear Master Gordon, Mrs. Gordon, Mr. Bledsoe and Gordon Martial Arts
students,
It seems that God has blessed you in many ways. As your news letter
attests, in looking back over the past couple of years, you have been
fortunate in many ways. You have a fantastic group of students who are
hard working, enthusiastic and loyal. You, Mrs. Gordon and Mr. Bledsoe
are excellent instructors who often place your students and their
welfare above your own and give them every opportunity to broaden their
horizons, make themselves a positive member of your community, martial
arts and society as a whole. This is no small feat in itself and is
often overlooked as a trivial matter when it is actually one of the most
important things we can contribute to our children, our students and
fellow human beings.
It is in our own humble opinion that God has given us all our own
special talents and abilities. While it may not be a sin not to use them
to the best of our ability it surely may be disappointing to God when we
don't. We just happen to think that you are on the right track. We pray
that you will continue in your success and that God will bless you and
yours throughout the coming year. We thank you for allowing us to
contribute to your growth and success if only in a few small ways( you
give us entirely too much credit) and offer our help, guidance and most
of all, fellowship any time you need us. Please keep us in your prayers
also. We will see you soon.
Yours Truly,
Masters Joe and Terri Poff |

.....Thanks for all the hard work you do for the students. You are
making such a positive influence in their lives. Now a days, it takes
more than just strong family values to raise a productive citizen.

I've enjoyed my 1st. year in Taekwondo and the fellowship with my
Instructors and fellow students. I had only planed to stay in a few
months, but as you see I'm still here and hope to be a Black Belt in a
year or so. Thanks for helping all your students and being understanding
when we don't understand. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS.

To the students: No matter how hard it gets it is worth it! The sense of
accomplishment and pride you get when you finally achieve the level of
blackbelt makes it all worthwhile. You are lucky to have three of the
most caring and devoted Instructors in the business. So hang in there.
Mr. David Mathis (Mr. Mathis was one of our original four instructors
coming over from our Florala Taekwondo School. Due to an injury at work,
he no longer trains. We miss him and hope he is able to return.) |
