Second Annual Korean Martial Art Festival

2008 event was held at the Quality Inn in Crestview, FL.  One of the few true international events with grandmaster and master level instructors traveling from all over the USA and Canada.

An exhausting yet enjoyable event.  The camaraderie is unlike anything else I've seen.  Everyone is friendly and in learning mode.  We had to keynote seminar leaders with Grand Master Hwang (ITF) and Grand Master Timmerman (NKMAA/WKF).  Seminars on funadementals of Taekwon-Do, rope technique, joint locks, stick work, hard style defense/drills, and more.  Next year is already in the works and scheduled for April 17-19, 2009

A few quotes:

Nice also to see fellow Masters of various Korean martial arts and eager students come together in the spirit of friendship and sharing. It was awesome to see high ranking Masters without egos get on the mat to learn and share with no other agenda than to sweat, learn and share. Thank you Master Gordon for making this possible... I look forward to next year.

Grand Master Rudy Timmerman

"...Master Gordon did a PHENOMENAL job of putting this event together...it is without a doubt the BEST Martial Arts Event I have ever had the privilege to attend. I will surly be attending again next year..."

Josh Paszkiewicz

Master Gordon had a wonderful group of Grand Masters and Masters presenting and I will be recommending it to anyone who will listen.

I want to put a special thanks out for above and beyond caring; Grand Master Timmerman and Master Janisse for the extra time, and Master Gordon's family for taking Master James, Josh PSBN and myself out of the hotel on the last night after almost everyone had left. For those of you who were not there I just wanted you all to know that the hospitality of the Gordon Family just does not stop.

I had a great time , as well as JKN Terry, whom I should add, had never set foot on a beach in his life, let alone seen the ocean, He thoroughly enjoyed himself, I would like to Thank Master Gordon and his family for the great hospitality, everyone was excited and it is nice to see everyone working together, Gm Timmerman gave a great seminar on the basics of Hap Ki Do, the parking lot session was great as always, it is nice to see students try something new and also something they might not have not done, if not for SJN, Thank You Sir, along with GM Hwang giving the basics on TKD movement, all the the Masters gave incredible seminars, I am looking forward to next years event........

Troy Trudeau

..I would say the thing I enjoyed the most was the atmosphere of the whole event, there were no egos, or bad attitudes...Just good training, and good times, which is pretty rare at any martial arts events these days. Everyone was willing to help everyone learn, and have fun doing it. There was a really good mix, of really talented people at all ages and levels...I would contend that it was easily the best martial arts seminar I have ever attended....

Below is about 160 pictures.  I tried to make sure everyone was shown at least once and it isn't easy going through 2000+ pictures looking for the best ones.  For the seminar leaders, sorry I couldn't break out your particular session.  The pictures weren't taken in any particular order so I wasn't sure which seminar the person was in.  To keep from making a mess, I put them under a general seminars section.

Grand Master Hwang's session on Taekwon-Do fundamentals

Grand Master Timmerman did a seminar on joint locks and rope techniques.  (It all hurts...)

After the seminars on Saturday, Grand Master Timmerman did an after session...session.  Soft breaking is always a draw.

Various images of seminars.

Some candid shots taken and a few promotions were issued.

A few folks stayed until Monday so we went to Destin Beach to take it easy after a very busy weekend.
